Dating profile interests: give someone a reason to say hello

On Lisa50, there is no biography to write. Your profile is built from interests, so the useful question is what you enjoy and how those interests might lead to a conversation.

From the Lisa50 team. Meet founder David Minns and learn about our approach.

Choose interests that reflect your actual life

An interest does not have to be unusual to be worth sharing. Cooking, music, walks or films can each open several conversations. The point is to give another person something they can recognise, ask about or enjoy with you.

Choose the options that genuinely fit you from those available in the service. Do not select something only because you think it will attract more attention. If someone asks about it, you want to have an answer that feels natural.

A useful check is to imagine the next question. If you select an interest, could you talk about a recent experience, a favourite example or something you would like to try? You do not need expertise. Enjoying a quiet walk is as valid as training for a long hike.

Turn a broad interest into a specific question

The interest on a profile is the starting point. A message can add the detail. These are conversation examples, not a list of Lisa50’s available profile options.

If you notice cooking

“What is the meal you most enjoy making when you have time?” This invites a story without testing someone’s knowledge.

If you notice music

“Is there an album you always come back to?” You can share your own answer and let the conversation move beyond a list of favourite artists.

If you notice walking

“Do you prefer a countryside walk or exploring a town?” This asks about a preference without requesting their exact location or routine.

One question is usually enough to begin. Several questions at once can feel like a form to complete. Add a small piece of your own experience so the other person has something to respond to as well.

You do not have to share every hobby

A shared interest gives you an opening, but it is not a complete compatibility test. Two people who like films may disagree about every favourite and still enjoy discussing them. Someone with a different hobby may be interesting because they bring something new to the conversation.

Notice the way the conversation develops. Do both people ask questions? Can you disagree comfortably? Is there room for each person’s interests? These are things you learn by talking rather than counting how many profile details match.

Our guide to exploring Lisa50 profiles also covers distance and practical expectations, which matter alongside common interests.

Let your interests do the introducing

Join, browse profiles, exchange LIKEs and send flirts for free. Full one to one private messaging requires an upgrade. Photos are optional, and profiles are built from interests.

Share personality without revealing a routine

You can talk about enjoying swimming without naming the pool you visit at the same time every week. You can describe the kind of work you find interesting without providing your workplace address. Keep the detail at a level you feel comfortable sharing with somebody you have only just met.

If you upload a photograph, look for visible work passes, house numbers or other identifying details in the background. Photos are optional on Lisa50. Choose what you want to make public, and use the safety guide when deciding what to share later.

Keep your profile relevant as life changes

Interests can change when your work schedule changes, you move or you discover a new activity. Revisit your selections when they no longer describe what you enjoy. There is no need to invent a more exciting life; a current, accurate profile gives conversations a better starting point.

If an interest attracts questions you do not enjoy answering, consider whether it is really important to you. A profile should help you find conversations you want to have, rather than create an obligation to perform a particular personality.

What to do when you cannot find an obvious shared interest

Try a respectful question about something unfamiliar: “I have never tried that. What do you enjoy about it?” Curiosity can be more useful than pretending you already know the subject. If the profile gives you no reason to want a conversation, it is fine to keep looking.

A free LIKE lets you show interest without composing a message. A flirt reaches multiple people, so avoid making it sound as though you have read one specific person’s profile. Use a simple introduction that makes sense to every recipient. Full one to one messaging requires an upgrade.

Questions about Lisa50 profiles

Do I need to write a dating bio?

No. Lisa50 builds profiles from interests. Use your selections to show what you enjoy and use conversations to add detail.

Can I start without a profile photograph?

Yes. Photos are optional. You still complete the signup liveness check, which is separate from displaying a photo.

What makes a useful opening question?

Ask about one visible interest, make it easy to answer and leave room for their own experience. Avoid personal contact details or intimate questions as an opening.
